Orphans Overseas volunteer service trips are short-term trips focused on meeting specific needs in communities in which we work.

Trips can be as short as a local day trip to Community House for yard clean-up and sprucing, or as long as a nine-day overseas trip for orphanage construction, child development staff training, or hands-on interaction with orphaned children in Kenya, Vietnam or China.

Each trip is designed to give team members an opportunity to serve within their areas of expertise.  Some require only a desire to help someone in need.

Over the years, hundreds of people have supported our work by volunteering their time and experience to benefit the lives of at-risk children, including:

  • 50 graduating high school seniors provided a summer sports camps for Russian orphans

  • 7 team members visited Honduras to distribute developmental learning equipment and complete developmental assessments in a two orphanages

  • 8 team members visited several orphanages in Ukraine and distributed sports equipment and educational toys

  • 65 graduating high school seniors taught English and implemented a much-needed garbage collection system in rural China

  • 2 early childhood specialists presented a training seminar to physicians, and orphanage directors at the invitation of the Ministry of Education in Kazakhstan

  • 62 team members visited Kenya to build an orphanage, introduce developmental learning centers,  and provide a day camp for more than 1,000 children

  • 5 team members provided teacher training, electrical wiring and generator installation in a building constructed for orphan care

  • 7 team members met to devise and implement a Memo of Understanding, Project plan and Construction bids for a construction renovation project for street children in Kenya
