LEGAL

The pictures of orphan children featured on this website were taken with the permission of the orphanages where they are living. None of the children shown on this website are being offered for adoptive placement. This website is not intended to offer specific children for adoption or to solicit adoptive families to adopt specific children shown on the website.

For families that do elect to begin the adoption process, all adoptive families must go through extensive background screening and be approved by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, Orphans Overseas, and the foreign government before becoming eligible to adopt. It is only after an adoptive family has been approved for adoption and the orphan child has been determined by the foreign government to be a legal orphan that an adoptive family and adoptive child will be matched for placement.  After placement, the US Embassy will conduct its own investigation to verify the child's orphan status and that the adoptive family is a family suitable for bringing an immigrant child into the United States.  Orphans Overseas works closely with both the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of State, and the foreign government to ensure that the laws of both the United States and the foreign country are fulfilled and that each adoptive placement is made within these applicable laws.

All monies paid during the adoption process are used for specific purposes related to costs incurred by Orphans Overseas for office expenses, staff salaries, phone and fax charges, overnight mailing, international mailing, document translation and authentication, humanitarian support to the adoptive child's orphanage, immigrant visa charges, airfare, hotel, food, and transportation for adoption related travel. At no time are monies used to pay for a child.

Any details included on this website relating to the adoption timeline, adoption fees, and adoption travel information are intended to offer adoptive families a better understanding of the adoption process. These details are estimated and Orphans Overseas is not responsible if adoptive families experiences vary from the estimates.
