More than 40% of the babies born in the US today are born to single women. Many of these young women will fail the overwhelming task before them, juggling parenting and wage earning, and will end up depending on government funding for survival. Community House brings hope to these young women who face pregnancy alone, offering them a safe place to live while they make plans for their own futures and a parenting plan that is in the best interest of their babies. Community House provides mentors and professional counselors, parenting and adoption education, college scholarships and vocational training. For the young women who choose to parent, Community House offers 6 months of post delivery "rooming in with babies" enabling mothers to begin parenting in a safe environment with support and training before moving out on their own. For young women who decide it is not the right time to parent, Community House offers adoption as a parenting plan that provides a stable, loving environment for their babies and an opportunity for the young women to face motherhood at an appropriate time in their lives.
